Status of Speak Franciscan
The Speak Franciscan text will be available online through the Association of Franciscan Colleges and Universities website: http:\\www.franciscancollegesuniversities.org this summer. It can be read online, and it will also be available as a pre-pay text for use with Franciscan institutions throughout the U.S. The content is designed as entries, similar to a handbook of terms, for laity teaching and working at Franciscan schools. It could serve as a primary text for those new to the Franciscan heritage and veterans who have worked at Franciscan schools. The content is brief but tells the "Franciscan story" from the perspective of persons, places, terms, and significant sources that shape the tradition as it evolved through the first 500 years of Franciscan history. Using this blog, I would like to begin a conversation about the text with those who might find this material useful in teaching and working at AFCU schools. Think of it as a very large tent under which we have gathered students, scholars, and friends of Francis and Clare. We all share an interest in these two founding figures, and we feel drawn to talk about what they can offer to our present time and world. Franciscans are relational; they love to party. Everyone is welcome and can find a place in the tent. I look forward to hearing your voice.
